Here's a question for you -- do you think there's a different kind of disempowerment/disrespect issue at work when all parties are male? I haven't read much rentboy fic and I have to admit most of what I have read severely feminized the rentboy -- but I don't know how much of that is inherent in the consumer/consumable relationship and how much is simple bad writing that essentially turned the disempowered male into a girl.
